A1 Bengalooru

Bengalooru - Asia's largest enclave of industrial units with 4,500 small, medium and large-scale industries and six private industrial estates. It generates about Rs 15,000 crore annual turnover, of which Rs 2,000 crore is paid to the government as taxes.

Recently Bangalore was declared as A-1 City. Thus, putting it beside the other Metropolitan Cities like New Delhi,Kolkotta, Mumbai and Chennai. A-1 City will get huge funds from the central government so that they can make it as a model city and improve the living standards of its people.

Sadly, the phenomenal growth notwithstanding, the region is plagued with lack of basic infrastructure.

But, is Bangalore worth it ?? Is this how they improve the standard? Do they need funds to make it worse?

Take a look at the pic I clicked this morning on the way to office.

The pic shows the pathetic condition of the Sagar Apollo Hospital Road, off Bannergatta Road.( I apologise for not knowing the exact name of the road, I cant wait to write about this till I find the actual name. But this is one of the famous hospitals of Blore and the busiest road in the peak hours.)

Due to improper drainage & sewage systems, water clog on the roads and thus the roads tend to give away its shine. Its not just about the bumpy roads. But its the health of numerous patients at stake. One of the most important word that strikes, when thinking about hospitals is 'hygiene'. I dont blame the hospital authorities for it. In fact, they might be having the same concern. the government should take necessary steps to solve these basic problems. I teach the kids at school about the responsibilities of BBMP ( Brihath Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. My colleague says Brihath means huge, does it rightly refer to huge problems?) Do we have to remind the officials also about their duties? why is this procrastination and negligence? Wont the politicians realise that they are elected for serving people and improve the lifestyle of peoplr and not theirs? Wont they spend the time to solve the problems of people instead of creating problems in the assembly? Will the situation change?

PS:

* When I mumbled about it, the auto driver immediately complained, "The approach roads have been neglected for over 15 years. The promises of good roads have never been realised" . This is the state of India.Nobody has faith in the government.

* Something suddenly remimded me of Kalam's India 2020 book when I was writing this and I immediately related it to one of the forward msgs I got recently. It goes like this : " Kalam's Dream is finally realized. India has made it in 20 -20 " . I received it on the day India won the T20 match. But should we laugh at it?

The Kick Start :)

Life is not very exciting. So, I decided to break my boredom by doing something adventurous. After analyzing all the ideas that came up, I decided on this.... going to office in the scooty:)... I finally mustered courage to take the scooty out( my office is in hosur road, which is one of the busiest roads in blore :)).I decided to wake up early ( which is 7.30 for me of late) and leave by 8 to avoid traffic . With the master plan in place I slept happily the previous night. But just proving to be myself, I woke up late and had to leave only by 8.45.(testimonial for my about me :)) With the excitement of going alone in scooty to office, I went to the parking lot. There was absolutely no difficulty in choosing mine as it was the dirtiest of all the bikes parked. But to spoil my morning ,scooty troubled me by not starting automatically, ( may be it was d punishment for keeping it tidy :()... I immediately remembered my friend Pratyusha saying that you always have to so a kick start in the morning. Having known what has to be done, I felt like an expert and started to kick the bike ( that will be apt)... but paavam me.. :( even the bike was against me, and to add to the agony there was this driver who was laughing at me, but thank his good gods, he offered to help me ( else he would have faced the consequence )... and finally my scooty was roaring on the road:) [ hence the title Kick Start :)]
It was a smooth ride all along. After about 15 minutes loooong drive in the concrete jungle, amidst all the honking I reached office safe and sound... My colleagues reminded me that I have to get back home in the evening, when I was proudly narrating the whole episode to them. But I brushed aside their comments, as I was already in cloud nine, rejoicing my achievement. But, the expected happened, It was while maneuvering the bike in the narrow space of my parking lot, that I crashed into one of the pillars :( may be I should have called this post as, a Big bang start... thankfully, nothing happened to the bike and unfortunately to me too... :)
P.S
I still don’t have a driving license. :)
Thanks to my colleague Raghu, If not for him I wouldn’t have had the courage to go all alone. He has been coming along with me at the speed of 5km per hour, just to make me confident ... owe him a treat IF I get the license... :D
